Minis & Juniors at Shrewsbury RUFC
Welcome to the beating heart of Shrewsbury Rugby Club. Our Minis & Juniors (M&J) section is where the love of the game begins — a place where youngsters aged 5 to 18 learn new skills, make lifelong friends, and discover the values that make rugby special.
Whether your child is taking their first steps with a ball or is already shaping up as the next club legend, our age-group pathway ensures they’re supported, challenged, and most importantly… enjoying their rugby.
Our Age-Grade Teams
We field a full set of age-grade teams from U6 through to U18, each led by volunteer coaches who bring energy, expertise, and a big dose of Shrewsbury spirit.
Every team follows the RFU Age Grade framework, ensuring players learn the right skills at the right time, in a safe, supportive environment. We celebrate progress, teamwork, and effort — not just the scoreline.
Our Volunteering Ethos
The M&J section is powered by volunteers — parents, coaches, managers, helpers, and those brilliant “I’ll-do-anything” legends every club relies on.
We believe in:
-
Pitch-side support that puts the kids first
-
Positive coaching, creating a culture where everyone belongs
-
Sharing the load, so no one carries the club on their shoulders
-
Being role models for the values we ask our players to live by
If you'd like to help — in any role, big or small — we’ll welcome you with open arms (and possibly a bacon bap).
Our Commitment to Values & Player Development
We stand proudly behind the core rugby values of:
Teamwork • Respect • Enjoyment • Discipline • Sportsmanship
Every session, event, and fixture reflects these principles. Our coaches follow a supportive player-centred approach that focuses on enjoyment, development and confidence — whether preparing youngsters for competitive rugby, or simply helping them fall in love with the game.
From first tag to Colts rugby, we provide a clear, well-supported Player Pathway that helps every player progress at their own pace.
